Dr Liz Bruce-Lomba

Dr Liz Bruce-Lomba holds degrees in British Law and Medicine.  She began her professional life as a paediatrician and neonatal physician later becoming a general practitioner in the UK NHS and subsequently here in Portugal in the SNS. 

She has been married to a science teacher for 32 years and has a son of 28 years who is now also a teacher. Liz followed her heart into education and completed a PGCE in international education at Nottingham University with Merit in 2020.  After over 25 years in the medical profession she is grateful for the many opportunities she has had to observe the effect and the way we present information and impart knowledge is crucial to the accumulation of understanding and self-motivation. She was well known for being 'that doctor in the health center with exercise balls and dumb-bells in her room' in order to directly teach proper form to patients. 

A self confessed life-long learner and musical autodidact - playing most stringed and woodwind instruments and a current member of the local philharmonic, jazz and a local theatre orchestras as well as a member violins in the Iberian Medical Orchestra. Her interests outside music include the study of human health issues and reading.
